The Origin

Originally founded in 2015, Signal-Wise began as a research-driven enterprise. In 2024, the company was relaunched with a bold mission: to deliver transformative products that address urgent and costly challenges in advanced manufacturing and medical devices.

The Founder

Dr. Sean F. Wu received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Zhejiang University (China), and both his M.S. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, USA. He began his academic career at Wayne State University (WSU) in 1988 as an Assistant Professor for Research in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. He transitioned to a tenure-track position in 1990, was promoted to Associate Professor in 1995, and to full Professor in 1999. In recognition of his distinguished contributions, Dr. Wu was unanimously named the Charles DeVlieg Professor of Mechanical Engineering (2002–2005) and was appointed University Distinguished Professor by the WSU Board of Governors in 2005—a title he has held continuously since.

Dr. Wu is a Fellow of the Acoustical Society of America (ASA) and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). He serves as the Managing Editor and Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Theoretical and Computational Acoustics Associate, and Editor of the Journal of the Acoustical Society of America.

Dr. Wu has authored more than 70 peer-reviewed journal articles and holds 18 U.S. and international patents. He is the author of the textbook The Helmholtz Equation Least Squares Method for Acoustic Radiation and Reconstruction (Springer, 2015), and the lead author of 4-volume series Advances in Underwater Acoustics, Structural Acoustics, and Computational Methodologies (World Scientific Publishing, 2025).

Dr. Wu is an accomplished entrepreneur. He co-founded SenSound, LLC in 2003 to commercialize 3D sound field visualization; co-founded Cardiosounds, LLC in 2018 to develop wearable devices for monitoring blood pressure, EKG, etc.; and founded Signal-Wise, LLC in 2015 to pioneer AI-powered Acoustic Fingerprint-based (AIAF) DeepScan—enabling real-time, non-contact, non-invasive acoustic diagnostics and analysis.
